CONDITIONS WE TREAT

Fibromyalgia

For those learning to live with Fibromyalgia, loss of spine movement, muscle tightness and heightened pain in joints can seem like an untreatable consequence of this chronic disorder.

Beat the cycle – Chiropractic is not a cure for fibromyalgia. But it can reduce the effects of the vicious fibromyalgia pain cycle.

Chiropractic care has been shown to be a safe and effective treatment option for fibromyalgia.

Chiropractors are healthcare professionals who specialise in diagnosing and treating conditions related to the musculoskeletal system, including the spine, joints, and muscles. They use a variety of techniques to help restore function and alleviate pain, including spinal manipulation, soft tissue therapy, and exercise prescription.

Chiropractic care can help fibromyalgia patients in a number of ways. First and foremost, chiropractors can help reduce pain levels.

By correcting misalignments in the spine and improving joint function, chiropractic adjustments can help reduce pain and stiffness throughout the body. This can improve the patient’s ability to move and engage in daily activities, which can have a positive impact on the overall quality of life.

Chiropractors can also provide guidance on lifestyle changes that can help manage fibromyalgia symptoms. This may include recommendations for exercises, stretches, and other therapies that can help improve strength and flexibility, as well as advice on diet and nutrition to support overall health and wellbeing.

In addition to these benefits, chiropractic care can also help improve sleep quality and reduce stress levels, both of which can exacerbate fibromyalgia symptoms. Chiropractors can provide patients with tools and techniques to help manage stress and improve sleep hygiene, which can in turn help reduce pain and fatigue.

If you or a loved one is struggling with fibromyalgia, chiropractic care may be able to help. With a holistic approach to treatment that focuses on improving function and reducing pain levels, chiropractors can provide effective, safe care for this complex condition. Causes of Fibromyagia

Fibromyalgia is estimated to affect about 5% of the population and tends to occur in women much more than men.

The difficult thing about Fibromyalgia is that there is no known cause, it isn’t an inflammatory disease, it isn’t a degenerative disease and it isn’t and autoimmune disease. This makes it difficult to diagnose and treat.

The onset of Fibromyalgia has been linked to:

  • a traumatic event that caused a physical injury
  • stressful/ traumatic life event such as a car accident or bereavement
  • disease/ illness – sudden onset illness or chronic illness (i.e IBS, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis)
  • sleep disturbance
Symptoms of Fibromyalgia
  • Widespread muscle pain, stiffness and tenderness in the muscles and joints
  • Fatigue – often disproportionate to the person’s level of activity or amount of sleep
  • Restless sleep or awakening after a long sleep and feeling tired for the rest of the day
  • Anxiety, depression & disturbances in bowel function
  • Poor memory or a feeling of brain “fogginess”
Correct diagnosis through X-Rays

Instant results from X-Rays mean we can start to provide you with the appropriate care as soon as possible.

In addition to a through examination, the chiropractor may advise you tho have a series of X-rays in order to fully understand your condition and achieve faster and better results with care.
