Sports Massage

Massage therapy is a great addition to the services we provide at Family Chiropractic in Sussex.

Each massage therapy session is tailored to meet the needs of each patient’s specific injury or condition. While many people receive massage therapy for relaxation purposes, most people do not know that massage therapy has therapeutic benefits as well.

Our licensed massage therapists provide care as a natural means to promote healthy body function. It is also a great way to speed up recovery time when injured.

Deep tissue massage is similar to Swedish massage. However, the pressure is typically deeper and more beneficial to releasing chronic muscle tension. Deep tissue massage focuses on the deepest layers of the muscle tissue, tendons and protective layers surrounding the muscles, bones and joints.

While many people may see massage as a luxury, it can also assist in your recovery plan in addition to becoming part of a health regimen. We utilise massage therapy independently or in conjunction with chiropractic care in order to help you achieve optimal results. You will feel better and more relaxed because of our unique integrative approach.

What to expect during your sports massage treatment at our Sussex clinics.

Before Your Appointment

Before your appointment, it’s important to communicate with your therapist about your concerns and any specific areas you would like them to focus on. You should also let them know about any injuries or medical conditions you may have. This will allow your therapist to tailor the massage to your specific needs and ensure that they can provide the most effective treatment.

During Your Appointment

When you arrive at your sports massage appointment, your therapist will likely ask you some questions about your medical history and current condition. This will help them to determine the best course of treatment for you. They may also perform a physical assessment to evaluate your range of motion, muscle strength, and any areas of tension or pain.

Once your therapist has assessed your condition, they will begin the massage. They will use a variety of techniques to target specific muscles and tissues, such as deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release. These techniques can help to break up knots, relieve tension, and reduce pain.

Your therapist may also use tools such as foam rollers, massage balls, or hot/cold therapy to help with your treatment.

After Your Appointment

After your sports massage appointment, it’s important to stay hydrated to help flush out any toxins that may have been released during the massage. You should also avoid any strenuous activities for a few hours to give your muscles time to recover.

It’s common to experience some soreness or discomfort after a sports massage, especially if it’s your first one or you have a particularly tight or injured area. However, this discomfort should subside within a day or two, and you should feel an overall sense of relaxation and improved mobility.
